Jan 27, 2025: Canucks are bridesmaids again. Second straight weekend where a big trade falls apart at last minute.

Matt and guest co-host Irf Gaffar discuss another pins-and-needles weekend where the Canucks were close to a big trade. They talk about the huge Carolina-Colorado deal involving Mika Rantanen, how close the Canes were to acquiring Elias Pettersson, whether the Avalanche now pivot to J.T. Miller, and whether the Buffalo Sabres are now the logical landing spot for Pettersson. They discuss what the Canucks need to do to be a playoff team, the win over Washington, more brilliance from Quinn Hughes and Monday's game in St. Louis.

Darren Dreger stops by and says Pettersson to Carolina was close. He tells us the Canucks had keen interest in a package similar to what landed Rantanen. Darren says Buffalo is interested in Pettersson, that Dallas is no longer pursuing Miller, and that the Canucks might just make the best deal for either Petey or J.T. He also informs on Alex Pietrangelo taking himself off Canada's 4 Nations roster and whether we'll see more players pulling out.

Jeff Paterson believes management has made its choice and is ready to recast the roster with big names getting traded out. Jeff previews the game in St. Louis, new line combinations, and the debut of Elias Pettersson (D-Petey) on defence.
