Matt and guest co-host Patrick Johnston discuss Marcus Pettersson's contract extension and whether Quinn Hughes will skip (or just miss) the 4 Nations tournament. The guys discuss whether Pettersson's new deal is better than if they had re-signed Nikita Zadorov; why they acted so quickly; could waiting have provided better information on the fit; and the merits of getting him locked up. They also talk about the sensitive nature of the conversation with Hughes. It's in the club's best interest that he doesn't play, but does encouraging him to sit out cut too close to offending him given what's gone on this year with the J.T. Miller trade and a recast roster. They also touch on Carson Soucy's comments about being on the trade block, and 5-on-5 scoring being down league-wide.
